After some tinkering I have been using this to install 5/8" bamboo flooring from [...]. Neither of the two plastic shoe plates that came with the tool was right for 5/8" flooring but I shimmed one up with a chunk of linoleum behind it so it puts the nails in pretty much the right place. The thing was messing up the top edge of the flooring above the nail but I filed and ground a bit on the part of the tool that seemed to be doing the damage and modified my operating technique a bit and it seems to do that less now.
All in all, the thing drives nails OK in 5/8" bamboo flooring if you shim it up right, and if you're careful to press down firmly on the handle and make sure the tool is firmly in contact with the flooring edge it doesn't damage the flooring much. Not hitting the plunger hard enough with the hammer can leave a nail sticking up but (once you understand that) it's easy enough to deliver the necessary whack every time. I haven't had any problems with jams or malfunctions, but I've only been working with the tool for a few hours total, maybe 200-300 nails total.
I've tried to call the customer service number given on the instruction manual but it seems they don't man that 800 number effectively.
I suspect this tool might work better with 3/4" flooring. It's pretty marginal with 5/8" bamboo and Campbell Hausfeld customer support by phone is nil.

The nailer worked like a charm. I put down 3/4" prefinished oak flooring with flooring nails and it came out professionaly perfect! It is a quality product and it was half the price I could find on comparable models. Excellent tool and less than I oould have rented a similiar one.
