"Excellent gun for the money" 2009-07-06

I have used the hammer only type of floor nail-er but with the air this works so much better. Much easier on your body. After 760 sq. ft. of hardwood it was flawless.

 "Just Ok Tool" 2008-07-16
By D. Etter (Spring, Texas United States)
Ok, I am not a professional floor install, but I do consider myself to have better than average skills in the DIY arena. The product arrived on time in a nice carrying case. However I found that neither of the two interchangeable base plates worked well for my flooring. One set the nail in the top of the flooring, the other set it well out on the tongue. After some fiddling I ended up using the thinner base plate with some shims. This seem to get the nail set in the correct place on the flooring. The biggest problem now is that the nailer frequently marrs the edge of the flooring, causing a noticeable blemish that has to be rubbed out.

I am willing to concede that this may be due to my custom shims, and I have to admit this is the first floor nailer that I have used. It could be that my shims are causing the blemish, so take this review with a grain of salt. I have to say though that I cannot imagine flooring with out a pneumatic gun, I'm just not sure this is the best one for the job.

 "First-time professional" 2008-04-03
By Brian L. (Champaign, IL USA)
I have never used a pneumatic floor nailer or installed a hardwood floor, but after using the Akuzuki, I feel like a professional. The nailer was easy to use and allowed me to install a great-looking/professional floor. The nailer shot nail after nail into the exotic Kempas hardwood and had no trouble, but I would recommend practicing on a scrap piece to know your PSI is correct and you know how hard to hit nailer's head. I had also been online and watched a video, which demonstrated how to use the nailer to position the board and only press the trigger when ready to nail... that was helpful!

"Great Flooring Stapler and Nailer at a Great Price" 2008-03-03
By Tony in CT
This stapler was shipped to me in 5 business days and arrived in time for me to work with it the entire weekend. Finished two rooms with 5/8" Bamboo, and after changing the base to the proper size (comes with the 3/4" base) it worked flawlessly. Also ordered the Grizzly 2" staples and they fit and worked great in this gun. I worked with other staplers at $40 per day, and this worked just as well, without the stress of worrying about getting it back to the store. Save your back and buy the gun if your going to do more than 2 rooms. Then you can lend it out to your friends....

 "Mostly pleased" 2007-06-25
By David Helman (Norwalk, CT United States)
My first hardwood floor installation. We're using staples. The gun works well. It took a few tries to get the depth set, We had a few poorly set staples, which were not the gun's fault. The shims work well. We found the 16 guage staples after going to 3 stores. Purchase them with the gun to avoid our problems. I like the gun so far and recommend it.
